How to Choose the Right Battery?

When selecting a battery, it is important to consider several key parameters:

Capacity (Ah) – must match the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations. Too low capacity may cause starting problems, while too high capacity may lead to unnecessary expenses.

Cold Cranking Amps (A) – the higher the value, the easier the vehicle starts in cold weather. This is especially important during winter.

Polarity – check whether left (+) or right (+) terminal layout is required.

Battery Type Explanation

Standard (SLI)

Suitable for vehicles without Start-Stop systems and with basic electrical equipment. This is a traditional lead-acid battery designed for regular starting.

EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery)

Designed for vehicles with basic Start-Stop systems. More resistant to frequent starts and charge cycles than standard batteries. Commonly used in mid-range Start-Stop vehicles.

AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat)

Advanced technology for intensively used vehicles with extended Start-Stop systems and higher electrical demand. Highly resistant to deep discharge and charge cycles. Typically used in newer and higher-class vehicles.

GEL

Less common in passenger cars. More often used in campers, motorcycles, or special-purpose equipment. Resistant to deep discharge.

Important

If your vehicle was originally equipped with an AGM or EFB battery, it must not be replaced with a standard (SLI) battery.

When Is It Time to Replace the Battery?

• The vehicle starts with difficulty, especially in cold weather
• Headlights appear dimmer
• Dashboard warning lights appear
• The battery is older than 4–5 years
